The Bridgeton Fire Department consists of 17 career firefighters, 16 full time Emergency Medical Technicians and 10 Per Diem Emergency Medical Technicians.  Equipment includes two class "A" pumpers, two 75' Quint Ladders, one 100’ Tower Ladder, seven ambulances, one boat and numerous support units.  Personnel operate from a single firehouse located near the center of the City of Bridgeton that is staffed 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

 

Bridgeton firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians respond to all fire, rescue, medical and hazardous material emergencies within the City of Bridgeton.  In addition, the Bridgeton Fire Department provides ambulance service in Hopewell Township, Stow Creek Township, Greenwich Township and Shiloh Borough.  The department also provides assistance to neighboring fire and EMS agencies whenever needed.  In 2022, the department responded to 1,281 fire/rescue calls and 5,897 emergency medical incidents.

 

The department serves as the local enforcing agency of the New Jersey State Fire Prevention Code and performs more than 1,780 annual inspections within the City of Bridgeton, Hopewell Township, Stow Creek Township, Greenwich Township, Shiloh Borough, Downe Township, Fairfield Township and Alloway Township.  The department is also responsible for Fire Prevention Education as well as investigations throughout these communities.
